As a Social Impact Intern, you will support the Best Buy Foundation’s flagship philanthropic program, Best Buy Teen Tech Centers, in its mission to build brighter futures for teens through technology. You will work closely with Teen Tech Center Operations staff to ensure program execution, non-profit partner relationship management, and event management support.
Additionally, you’ll work cross-functionally with the Social Impact team as we all work together to drive positive results. This includes supporting the Best Buy Foundation Charity Classic (an annual multi-day fundraising event that engages Best Buy vendors in various activities). A successful candidate will bring excitement to the Foundation and its mission. Experience with school and community organizations will help support a positive experience throughout your internship.
The internship runs from June to August 2025. It is a hybrid role, meaning you must be located within a drivable distance to our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You will be asked to come into the office 3 days per week. This internship does not have the potential to lead to a full-time opportunity. Housing will not be provided. There are two opportunities on the Social Impact team, detailed below. Flexibility to work on either team is expected.
What you’ll do
Team 1:
- Shadow Teen Tech Center Operations staff on calls with community organizations.
- Provide feedback and suggestions on processes, communications, and administrative tasks that can be improved or modified better to support the Teen Tech Centers and Social Impact team.
- Data entry in CRM system, physical inventory, email management, and prep for Foundation board meetings.
- Attend and support meetings with internal and external partners.
- Collaborate with the cross-functional Social Impact and Communications team members to support and execute various tasks or events.
- Support advancement strategic priorities, which include employee volunteerism, Teen Tech Center staff training, and teen membership reporting.
- Assist with preparation and attend Best Buy Foundation Charity Classic events.
- Learn about the broad field of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Philanthropy.
Team 2:
- Complete an analysis of the Charity Classic Project Showcase program (teen engagement program).
- Learn about the variety of ways a corporate Foundation can engage stakeholders in advancing its mission.
- Prepare presentation materials and communications that increase employee awareness of Foundation programs.
- Support planning and executing events for the annual charity fundraiser.
- Assist with updating team materials and the Best Buy Foundation website. Assist with preparation and attend Best Buy Foundation Charity Classic events.
- Learn about the broad field of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Philanthropy.
Basic Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited college/university, with an expected graduation date between fall 2025 and spring 2028
- Must be able to work in the Richfield, MN corporate office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Must be able to commit to being no more than 2 hours driving distance from the Minneapolis Corporate Campus - 7601 Penn Ave South Richfield, MN 55423
- Must be able to work 40 hours a week Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-5pm
- Must be able to commit to the internship start and end date of 6/2/2025- 8/8/2025
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with building and delivering presentations.
- Ability to synthesize a large variety of information and consolidate it into effective reports.
- A general understanding or willingness to learn the experiences of volunteerism and mentorship and how they can impact a teens life.
