General Position Description:
Frankford Friends School seeks a collaborative, strategic, and mission-driven professional to serve as Director of Community Engagement and Annual Giving. This is a highly visible role for a professional who thrives at the intersection of relationship-building, storytelling, and philanthropy—someone energized by connecting families, alumni, and friends to the school’s mission and inspiring a culture of generosity.
Reporting to the Head of School and Director of Advancement, the Director leads the strategy and execution of the school’s annual giving program and community engagement initiatives. The Director manages a portfolio of donors, coordinates volunteers, oversees alumni engagement, and ensures that the Annual Fund reflects the impact of shared generosity across the Frankford Friends community.
The position requires flexibility, initiative, and the ability to evolve with the School’s strategic priorities. The Director of Community Engagement and Annual Giving is a champion for the school, its teachers, students, programs, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
Annual Fund Strategy & Execution
• Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of the Annual Fund, including fall and spring campaigns, Giving Tuesday, and other days of giving
• Manage a portfolio of current parent families, alumni, and friends of the school, fostering relationships, stewardship, and increased giving
• Develop and implement donor segmentation strategies to guide personalized outreach and maximize participation
• Recruit, train, and support a volunteer corps including class agents, parent ambassadors, and alumni volunteers who champion the Annual Fund
• Track campaign progress, prepare giving reports, and provide regular updates to the Head of School, Director of Advancement, and Board of Trustees
• Educate constituents on the impact of unrestricted gifts and make a compelling case for philanthropic support
Alumni Engagement
• Serve as the primary liaison to FFS alumni, building a structured alumni engagement program with meaningful opportunities for connection and participation
• Conduct outreach and visits with alumni to deepen their relationship with FFS, including cultivation of annual fund donors and volunteer leaders
• Plan and execute alumni events, both on- and off-campus, including Young Alumni gatherings and other reunion programming
• Develop alumni storytelling content for newsletters, social media, and other communications channels
• Maintain and grow the alumni constituent base using the school’s donor database
Community Engagement & Donor Relations
• Lead/Assist, as required, with annual community engagement and fundraising events (e.g., Otterfest, Grandfriends Day, Spring Fundraiser)
• Help foster involvement by parents, alumni, and friends of the school through targeted communications and events
• Manage civic connections and community partnerships, including the community pantry and other initiatives that build connection between the School and the greater Frankford community
• Design and execute meaningful stewardship strategies that demonstrate the impact of donor generosity
• Represent the Philanthropy Office at school events and community gatherings
Marketing, Communications & Digital Engagement
• Partner with the Marketing and Communications team to develop annual giving messaging and campaign materials
• Create engaging content, including email appeals, social media posts, and donor-facing storytelling
• Utilize design tools (Canva or similar) to produce campaign materials and volunteer resources
• Prepare and distribute general school communications related to community engagement and fundraising as requested
Data Management & Reporting
• Maintain donor records, engagement notes, and campaign tracking in the school’s donor database
• Prepare gift acknowledgment letters, pledge reminders, and tax acknowledgment letters in a timely manner
• Generate mailing lists, donor reports, and campaign analytics to guide outreach strategy
• Ensure data hygiene and integrity; perform updates to constituent records as needed
• Monitor fundraising progress and provide reporting for leadership and trustee committees

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Marketing, or a related field
• 2–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, annual giving, or advancement; independent school experience preferred
• Demonstrated success with participation-based fundraising and annual fund programs
• Experience managing donor portfolios and conducting personalized donor outreach
• Proficiency with a donor database (Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM strongly preferred)
• Skilled in digital engagement and design tools (Canva, GiveCampus, or similar platforms)
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational and project management abilities
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers effectively
• Commitment to professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in handling donor information
• An understanding of and commitment to living the Quaker testimonies of peace, simplicity, integrity, community, and stewardship
• A warm, welcoming demeanor and the ability to build relationships with constituents from a wide variety of backgrounds
• Enthusiasm and passion for the school’s mission, culture, and values
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
● This position requires significant flexibility and the capacity to work in a variety of settings: office, classroom, community meeting spaces, outdoors, etc. It may require the ability to sit, stand, walk up and down up to three flights of stairs and through the campus, for the entirety of the school day and to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
● Be able to pass all criminal record checks, background checks, and child abuse clearances.
Employment Type:
● Exempt | Full-time, 12 month
● 7:45 am - 4:15 pm
● Representing the School at admissions events attended by students and families may be expected.
● Summer Hours may be in effect when school is not in session.
● Salary will be market competitive with other small, independent schools with benefits to include: paid parental leave; tuition remission and free after care for children who attend FFS (Frankford Campus); health care; professional development; 5% match on retirement contributions; and 20 days Vacation and 10 days PTO.
